Prairie English Connections

Why a small city in the middle of Canada is WHERE YOU WANT TO LEARN ENGLISH

Due to COVID19 all  programs provided by Prairie English Camp and Prairie English Connections are suspended.  Included are:  Prairie English Summer Camp, PEC TALK,  and all English Homestay programs.  Services provided by Prairie English Connections including contracts with the University of Saskatchewan will be considered when requested.

Have you considered traveling to an English- speaking country to learn the language from native speakers and immerse yourself in the culture of that country?  Here’s why you want to learn English while living with a Canadian family, and enjoying the friendly, culture-rich city of Saskatoon, Canada.

With a population of 270,000 Saskatoon is a small city compared to the metropolises of Canada and the world.  However, it makes for a great place to learn English.

And here’s why.  A few years back a local church invited several adult students from Korea to come to our community for six months.  The students wanted to improve their English. The minister of the church said that coming to a community in the middle of Canada was the best place to learn English because it was the only language used!  Unlike some of the big cities in Canada there were no banks, stores, restaurants where Korean was spoken.  It was ENGLISH ONLY. The students confirmed that learning English in a small, friendly, Canadian community was a great experience. That minister wanted other Koreans to have the same experience and that was the start of Prairie English Connections which has offered summer camps and live-in homestays for English Learners since 2009.

English Learners homestay with our Canadian family doing all the things a typical Canadian family does and speaking English all day!  We cook and eat together, play games in the evening, sight see, attend community events and finish the days with evening camp fires. You will be part of our family and do everything we do!

Programs take place in the city of Saskatoon – a small, friendly, culture-rich city in the middle of Canada. English learners experience nature, visit museums and Indigenous cultural sites, go berry picking and enjoy walks and bike rides.
